“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh” (John 6:47-50; all Scripture quotations are from the English Standard Version).

Jesus taught us to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). In the Lord’s Prayer, “bread” represents all of our needs. It reminds us how God fed the Israelites with bread from heaven during their wilderness wanderings after escaping from Egypt (Exodus 16).
Jesus taught that He is the “living bread that came down from heaven.” Just as God fed the Israelites with food for the body, He feeds our souls with bread from heaven for salvation. Jesus feeds our souls, gives life to our spirits, and preserves us for eternal salvation.
Let us receive Him daily for eternal life. He will feed your soul so that you never hunger.
How have you experienced Jesus feeding your soul? How do you encounter Him as your daily bread?
