“Remember Lot’s wife.” Jesus reminded His disciples that, when He returns, society will be much like it was in the time of Noah or in Sodom just before Lot escaped.

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Matthew 7:13-14).

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12). Jesus’ “Golden Rule” calls us to live with empathy, guided by the love and word of God.

All Christians are anointed to serve God. Sometimes He calls us to use our natural talents for spiritual purposes.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

You cannot accuse someone of being judgmental without judging them. We can only apply Matthew 7:1 to ourselves.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Jesus teaches us that we can not serve (worship) both God and money. We should lay up treasures in heaven, not only on Earth.

“And when you fast….” Jesus expects His disciples to fast and pray. The question is not, “Should I fast?” Instead, we should ask, “When and how do I fast?”

“It is finished!” Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, the weight of sin is taken from us and eternal life is obtained.
