Jesus teaches us that we can not serve (worship) both God and money. We should lay up treasures in heaven, not only on Earth.

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:14-15).

Confession, repentance, and forgiveness are essential components of prayer.

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God” (John 6:68-69).

“Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread” (Matthew 6:11)

“Give us this day our daily bread.” Our Lord encourages us to pray for our material needs.

“Our Father, Who Art in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10)

Our study of the Sermon on the Mount brings us to the opening address of the Lord’s Prayer. We pray to “Our Father, who art in heaven.”
