
Jesus called His disciples to turn the other cheek, give graciously, and go the extra mile. When we do this, we show His grace to others.

But He said to them, “What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? How much more valuable then is a person than a sheep! So then, it is lawful to do good…

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Jesus’ teaching about oaths calls our attention to the holiness of God’s name and the need for Christians to exhibit integrity and honesty.

“Go and report to John what you hear and see: those who are blind receive sight and those who limp walk, those with leprosy are cleansed and those who are deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is any person who does not take offense…

“The one who has found his life will lose it, and the one who has lost his life on My account will find it” (Matthew 10:39).

“And whoever does not receive you nor listen to your words, as you leave that house or city, shake the dust off your feet” (Matthew 10:14).
