On the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, we consider his ideas about humility and the call of God on one’s life.

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).

“But as for you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,so that your fasting will not be noticed by people but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you” (Matthew 6:17-18)

“Therefore you shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).

“Come to good terms with your accuser quickly, while you are with him on the way to court, so that your accuser will not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you will not be thrown into prison” (Matthew 5:25).

Jesus warns us that lust is equal to adultery in the heart.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells everything that he has, and buys that field.”

“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of people”

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God
